STUDENT MINISTRIES YOUNG
LEADERS EMPOWERMENT

S.M.Y.L.E. — which stands for Student Ministries Young Leaders Empowerment — is a discipleship and leadership-focused program for students from grades 3-12. Our goal is to empower students to grow in Godly character and uncover their God-given talents and abilities through teaching and hands-on training. (Training includes: hospitality, administration, media, etc.) Students will then put those skills into practice by serving, at minimum, 2 services a month on Sunday mornings or Friday nights. They will learn spiritual skills, leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and so much more. Students will be following a Bible-based curriculum that will change and grow as they do should they continue with the program.

During the evenings we are meeting in person, students will be taught, for the first hour, how to understand and engage with the world around them through the lens of God’s Word. They will not only learn scripture but they will be encouraged and challenged to truly apply biblical principles, as we all are, to their daily, personal lives. For the second hour, this is where the training comes in. This isn’t training for “church work”, but we know from personal experience that the skills learned and applied within the four walls of the church can be expressed in many different areas and seasons of life.

For the weeks we aren’t meeting, this is where we team up as parent/guardian(s) and leaders. We know that we only sow into students’ lives for a small percentage of their week — whether that be a Sunday morning, Friday night, and now a S.M.Y.L.E night — but your voice and example in their lives have a far-reaching impact and we’re not here to take that influence from you but amplify it. Students will have assignments and goals to accomplish and they will need all of our help.

Fall applicants can sign up from June 16th to August 4th.
